Receiving the Project
At first glance, this step is pretty straightforward. Our project managers receive the document for translation (hard copy or digital). Up to his point, we’re good, right? But … what happens next?
We confirm receipt of course! A rapid response time is key for any translation company. We’re available to receive projects at anytime and we respond in an instant (if you send us a message in the early hours of morning, we may take a few more minutes to get back to you). The piece of mind you get knowing that your project is in good hands as soon as you send it is worth more than you think.

Analysis and Quoting
Every document is different, which is why each one needs to be analyzed to determine which resources need to be used and the time needed to efficiently complete it. This requires a thorough analysis of all of the relevant factors: language pair, degree of specialization/technicality, document length, complexity of the vocabulary, etc.

Research
While some projects are more complicated than others, all must be thoroughly researched in order to provide you with the most accurate translation. In a previous article about the different types of specialized translation that we most commonly work with, we go into more detail about how complex certain documents can be and why they should only be translated by someone who has extensive knowledge on the subject. Doing a few searches on Wikipedia isn’t good enough. Good thing our team, both in-house and collaborators, have proven experience.

Editing
As much as we like to talk about the quality of our collaborators, every translation needs to be reviewed and edited. That way we can find any mistakes or omissions that may have made their way into the first translation. This also means that there is more brain power going into solving any problematic areas. Remember, translators are not machines, they’re people, so sometimes they make mistakes (in fact, machines can also make mistakes).

Proofreading
To ensure that you get the highest possible quality, all translations undergo a second review process: proofreading. This is a final readthrough aimed and polishing the style and ensuring that there are no format issues or anything of the sort. Of course, proofreading is done by another professional translator. With this three-step process (TEP) you can rest easy knowing your document will go through the hands of three different linguists before it’s ready. Six eyes are better that two!

QA Check
Sometimes, even after a thorough editing and proofreading process, small details still slip between the cracks: inconsistent terminology, maybe a typo. Errors that many people would consider minor or insignificant in most contexts are things that we take very seriously in our industry. Bad things can happen. The bottom line is, when we give you a quality guarantee, we plan on delivering it. That’s why we use special tools and programs that can detect even the smallest mistakes. Nothing gets by us!
